Duff recently completed his second book, Duff Bakes, a follow up to the New York Times bestseller, Ace of Cakes: Inside the World of Charm City Cakes.

He opened his first business, Charm City Cakes, in Baltimore, Maryland in 2002 after graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley and working at several highly esteemed restaurants, including The French Laundry, Vail Cascade Hotel and Todd English's Olives. Charm City Cakes has been at the forefront of the couture cake movement for nearly 15 years, designing and creating elegant, outlandish, one-of-a-kind, edible masterpieces for this generation’s most notable occasions, from presidential inaugurations to Super Bowls to celebrity weddings.

Duff can be seen making appearances and doing demonstrations at food festivals, celebrations, and other major events around the country, including New York City Wine & Food Festival, South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SOBE), Feast Portland, the International Home + Housewares Show, and Life is Beautiful, among many others. Duff is an avid supporter of many charitable organizations including Share Our Strength / No Kid Hungry, Alex’s Lemonade, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and others.

Building on the success of his Baltimore location, Duff opened Charm City Cakes West in Los Angeles in 2012, and inspired by his passion for encouraging creativity in others, Duff soon thereafter founded Duff’s Cakemix, a DIY cake and cupcake decorating studio, also in Los Angeles.

Through partnerships with Tylina Foods (Gartner Studios), Blue Bunny, JAKKSPacific, Godiva and others, Duff has been able to launch a wildly successful line of branded products, including cake mix, ice cream, bakeware, and cake decorating supplies. Duff-branded products can be found in major retailers nationwide, including Walmart, Target, Michaels and most grocery chains.

In 2012, Duff was honored to be named a member of the American Chef Corps as part of the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Culinary Partnership with the James Beard Foundation.  As part of this program, Duff has visited countries such as Algeria, Australia, and Colombia, spreading goodwill through his combined passions of food and travel.

A competitive athlete while growing up, Duff remains a rabid football and hockey fan. You will frequently catch him rolling around town (or on TV!) in a Ravens or Bruins jersey. He is an avid musician and is currently playing bass in the LA-based,chef-driven rock band, Foie Grock. When he finds the time in his busy schedule, he also likes to carve stuff out of ice and metal.
